This text-set aims to provide resources that showcase the diversity of modern day immigrants in the US through a focus on immigrants and refugees throughout the US and particularly communities in Memphis, TN. The text-set challenges preconceptions and stereotypes of immigrants from East Africa, Central America, and the Middle East to not only deepen understanding of the immigrant populations and the refugee experience, but also to help create more inclusive classrooms for these modern day populations to be viewed by teachers and students alike beyond their stereotypes.
